Mobile learning or M-learning for the tech savvy, has hit
Malaysian shores in a big way. LTT Global Communications,
led by husband and wife team Wemel Cumavoo and Rani Wemel,
take the development of mobile learning to the forefront
with mobile courseware that teaches English and other
subjects in beginner to advanced level environments.
An
active participant under the Maxis Developer Programme, LTT
Global has already earned the distinction of being pioneers
in the field of mobile learning. They have also moved into
publishing mobile magazines that cover lifestyle issues as
well as creating awareness for mobile videos on various
topics in a professional, personal or family setting. The
available materials are created professionally and Fortune
500 companies support its use, guaranteeing quality
information direct to your mobile device.
Wemel and Rani however, are not your typical techno-preneurs,
as they both come from non-IT backgrounds and were
subsequently introduced to the Maxis Developer Programmer (MDP)
via the MDEC Technopreneur Development programme. “We joined
MDP with zero knowledge and they have really helped our
company become what it is today. MDP gave us credibility,
recognition and exposure to markets.” This subsequently led
them to larger tie-ups with banks and collaboration projects
with agencies and bodies. Also receiving a grant to run the
‘Mum- My English Teacher’ programme for single mothers, LTT
Global is set to expand their possibilities in mobile
learning in the not too distant future.
The
duo organised Asia’s 1st regional mobile learning
& edutainment conference-exhibition themed - 1st Asia
Pacific Regional Mobile Learning & Edutainment Conference
2007. Backed by MSC Malaysia, Suruhanjaya Komunikasi and
Multimedia Malaysia (SKMM), Ministry of Science Technology
and Innovation (MOSTI), Kementerian Tenaga Air dan
Komunikasi (KTAK) and Institute of
Professional Development, Open University Malaysia, Maxis
Developer Programme and a host of other organisations, the
conference was aimed at stimulating growth and awareness for
mobile content development within South East Asia and
Malaysia.
The conference, in
line with the set up of the APAC-Mobile Leaning Advisory
Panel is a platform for the public sector, academicians,
IT, telecommunication companies, manufacturers, regulators,

information amongst various entities. The conference,
