J2ME was the first venture by the MDP. A workshop was held on 14 May 2005 to discuss the SIM card and the market potential it represents, the role the SIM card plays in the mobile communications world, how developers could influence that role to their profit and galvanize the SIM card evolution. Participants also learn about the Java Card and how to tap into its vast commercial opportunities.
3GSM – Application Development Competition
The workshop on 27 April 2005 was a warm-up session and introduction on JAVA SIM. On 11 June there will be an introduction on the technical aspects of development, including how to develop Java-based applications, in preparation for the application development contest. The MDP-SIMagine Market Test will also be launched. Here, developers will be able to gain insight on the applications needed by users and how to develop them.
There will then be a great deal of hands-on work with regards to the development of the applications. In August there will be a series of market updates and a review of training sessions for July, September and November. The mobile market of Malaysia will also decide the three winners of the application development contest, and the developers with the most innovative ideas will enter the worldwide contest in October.
They will represent Malaysia – attending training in Paris , and will attend, participate and present their applications at 3GSM in Barcelona in February 2006 for a chance to win the worldwide SIMagine contest.
